If you are in Costa Blanca and looking for somewhere that feels different, peaceful, and full of charm, then Guadalest is honestly one of those places you should not miss.
It’s not a big town. Actually, it’s very small. But that’s exactly the magic of it.
You arrive, park your car, and then slowly walk towards the entrance. You pass through a tunnel carved into the rock, and suddenly you are inside this beautiful little mountain village. It feels like stepping into another time.
The streets are narrow, full of small local shops, handmade products, and that relaxed Spanish atmosphere that makes you just slow down without even thinking about it.
One of the most iconic spots is the castle, sitting high above everything. You can visit it here:

From up there, the views are just incredible. You see mountains, greenery, and right in front of you, the famous turquoise lake that makes this place even more special.
You can read more about the lake here:

And inside the village, you’ll also find the beautiful church, simple but full of character, perfectly matching the calm energy of Guadalest:

What I personally love most is just walking around without any plan. Stopping in small shops, tasting local products, and enjoying the little details.
You will find natural honey from the mountains, homemade jams, olive oil from the area, and local fruits. Everything feels authentic and made with care.
And then… take a break. Sit down in one of the small restaurants.
Order something simple, enjoy a glass of wine, and just look at the view. The open panorama of the mountains and the green valley is something you don’t rush. You sit, you breathe, and you enjoy.
Guadalest is not about doing many things. It’s about feeling something.
It’s the perfect day trip. You go there with friends, with family, or even alone, and you come back feeling relaxed and inspired.
Fully recommended, really.
