This morning, while walking my dog through the cozy streets of Calpe in Costa Blanca, I found something very special. As a German, I always look for good bread and bakeries – and sometimes in Spain this can be a little difficult. But living in Calpe brings many small joys, and today I discovered one that I want to share with you.

On a quiet side street, I saw a small bakery with pink flowers outside. It looked so beautiful and romantic, like a little boutique shop. When I came closer, I could smell the fresh bread, and I decided to go inside.

Two lovely ladies welcomed me with a smile. The place felt warm, natural, and full of love. I learned that this is a family bakery run by a mother and daughter, called Levadura Madre – Panadería Natural. Everything is organic and made with care, and you can really feel that.

I ordered a coffee with milk and their special whole grain bread with eggs, fresh tomato, and avocado. It was served with a nice presentation, tasted delicious, and was also very fair in price – only about €6. Healthy, simple, and very good value.

This bakery shows what makes life here so special.
